Pumpkin Patch Fun!

Last week Easton and Brooklyn both had field trips to the high school pumpkin patch. Brooklyn went on Monday and Easton went on Thursday. I was able to go with Easton's class. I wish I had a few pictures of Brooklyn's too...maybe I can round some up.
.......
We had a lot of rain this week...but we were very lucky and it wasn't too wet and only drizzled a little bit. The kids loved all the activities the high school kids had for them.
.......
Easton picked out his pumpkin first thing...He got one good looking pumpkin!
The petting area...Easton with the "bull" (not anymore)
Easton and Jullian with the goats.
Easton riding the "Bull!" All the kids loved this!
Roping the Bull...Easton always enjoys this one!
And of course, Face Painting. Easton and his spider!
Riding horses!
The high schoolers also had a haunted barn. Easton didn't even get scared but loved it. He even kicked the werewolf because he grabbed him.
.....
It was a fun day at the pumpkin patch!!!!

Pumpkin Cake!

I saw this cute cake idea on Regis and Kelly and thought it would be easy to make! So I looked it up on Family Fun and made it for our Ward Halloween Party last Friday Night. This was the first time I have made a cake from scratch, I think. It turned out so yummy! It had cream cheese frosting and spice pumpkin cake inside. It tasted just like a pumpkin roll...which I love!
I had fun decorating the cake...probably a little too much fun...but hey I don't decorate very often!

At the party...My Cake one the Decorating Prize! Only a few pieces were eaten...maybe they thought it was too cute to eat. jk I won a great prize...homemade Almond Roca. So yummy!

It was fun to make and fun to eat...I ate way to much of it though!

Brooklyn's Quilt!

Almost 1 1/2 years ago, I saw these adorable Rag Quilts at my Aunt Susan's house. My Aunt Susan said they were so easy to make...so I decided to make one for Brooklyn's bed. I spent the next month buying all the different pink fabrics that would coordinate. I never knew there were so many different shades of pink and they don't all look good together. I really was happy with the fabrics I picked.
The fabrics then sat in my office for months! When my mother-in-law came this spring, we cut out most of the fabric squares. We cut out a total of 612 pieces with the inside batting pieces. I was excited to actually start the quilt.
Then all the squares sat in my office for another 6 months because our sewing machine had a few pieces missing. I finally took it in to get repaired and tuned up last month! Finally I could start sewing the quilt.
Sewing Step 1: Easy...sew an "X" on each square to hold the front, back and middle pieces together. Sounds easy...well not for me! I guess I didn't get my mom's sewing gift. I could sew one line fine but then the next line which completed the "X" would bunch up and pleat. And my fabric would slip and wouldn't stay lined up...oh I was frustrated. I spent so much money on the fabric...I just didn't want to ruin the quilt. After many phone calls to my mom (which was hard for her to help because she hasn't made one of these quilts before either)...my sister-in-law Amanda told me that her quilt did the same thing and that it would look fine once it was done. What a relief! So I kept going and going until all the squares were "Xed."
All done with the "X!"
Step #2- Select the pattern. This was fun...kind of. It took awhile and few switching around to finally get the pattern to work out. I had to cut out one row...but I am glad it finally worked out!
Sewing Step #3- Sew each row together in strips. This part wasn't bad at all. No problems!
Sewing Step 4: Now stitch the strips together and make the quilt. Everything lined up nicely and I was happy with the result!
Front Side!
Back Side!
(Eric likes this side better! He told me he doesn't like the "rag" look...I said too bad!)
I am so proud of myself...the lines actually line up pretty well...not bad for my first quilt!
Step 5: CUT, CUT, CUT! Ok I haven't really started this process yet...it will take time. This quilt is really big...which means lots and lots of cuts. I think I will take my time and leave some for my mom when she comes!
I can't wait to see the finished product on Brooklyn's Bed! Pictures to come...hopefully it won't be too long before it is all done!
My goal was to get it sewed together before the baby comes...and I did it!
I told Brooklyn that maybe I would keep it for myself since it was sooo cute...she said no way...she loves it!

4 weeks to go...

I can't believe it...I will be honest...I am nervous to be a mommy of 3! I was thinking last night how our world is going to be turned/twisted all around. We have been a family of 4 for so long (5 1/2 years) and in a short 4 weeks we will be a family of 5! I will be going from having two independent kids, who do everything for themselves...to changing diapers again, bathing a child again, feeding a child, dressing a child, waking up with a child, rocking a child, loading and carrying a baby car seat again, it goes on and on....AM I ready for this?????
Ready or Not... Here HE Comes!!!
Once he is here...I am sure all my motherly instincts will come back (they better)...but for now I am nervous and just praying for an easy baby boy!
I am excited to kiss his little face all day long...best part of the baby stage.

We can't wait to see what this little guy will look like. Easton looks so much like Eric...I wonder if he will follow!

PS...Eric is way excited to have a baby again!

This was taken at 34 weeks...my belly is getting huge! Well not huge to most people...but to me it is. I officially can't see my toes anymore. And may I add...they need to be painted! I just can't do it anymore...good excuse for a pedicure!!!!!

Baby Shower Fun!

Baby Redford was SPOILED!

Last night the Young Women through me an awesome baby shower! It was so much fun! This baby boy was spoiled!

We played two games-
1. Guess my stomach size (with string)...everyone guessed too long. My actual stomach measured just shy of 39"(34 weeks along).

2. Guess Celebrity Baby Names..Match the kids names to the celebrities. I got 8 out of 15...mainly by guessing! There were some very unique names...I am not sure we will pick any for our little boy!

The adorable invitation that Kathy made! So cute!!!

We ate some YUMMY desserts-

Eric's new project!

Since our life is so boring (not)...Eric has started a new project...Learning how to weld. He really enjoys it. It makes him happy...so it makes us all happy! Plus he cleans for me to make up for it!

This is what Eric posted on his facebook about his project...
59 Chevy Truck Project
"I'm working on a 59 truck rebuild with my friend Dennis. I've been doing a lot of welding and grinding the last few weeks. This week I hope to finish the bed. I've got to fill all the holes on the back of the bed with welds then grind them smooth. Then I'll work on tubing the rest of the bed."
The Project Truck!

"Welded and grinded all the unnecessary holes on the firewall."

Note: This is Dennis' truck..not Eric's. He is just learning to weld on it!
